Project Start-up / Launch Activities

We guide clients to lay the groundwork for project success. Establishing a solid foundation for projects with effective start-up and launch activities ensures all elements are in place for successful delivery. Strategic Planning

Strategic planning at the start of a project is essential for setting a clear direction, aligning efforts with individual participant goals, and proactively addressing potential challenges and opportunities. High Performance Team Formation

Assembling the right mix of skills and expertise from the various project participants is only the start of establishing a high performance team. If that is all that was required, then there would be very few project failures. We develop short-term and long -term activities to help build and sustain a high performance team.

Cultural Alignment Assessment

Undertaking Cultural alignment assessments at the start of major infrastructure project are critical as by default major/mega projects involve diverse teams, often consisting of individuals from different backgrounds, disciplines, and cultures. Understanding and aligning the project team’s culture with the project goals and values contributes to a more collaborative and successful project. Assessments and surveys conducted at the start, allows for benchmarks to be set and reported against in future assessments, providing leadership teams valuable insights to develop targeted actions and initiatives.

Commercial Alignment (Stress Testing)

Stress testing the level of contract alignment between parties before a dispute occurs is a proactive and strategic approach to identify potential areas of disagreement and strengthen the overall contractual relationship. This proactive approach helps prevent misunderstandings, promotes alignment, and lays the groundwork for a smooth and collaborative contractual relationship.

Project Reset & Refresh

With the long duration of many projects (or when there is significant change that occurs) a project strategic reset or refresh, driven by the governance and leadership teams is essential for maintaining project focus and momentum. It allows the project team to respond to changing conditions, optimise resources, and ensure that the project remains aligned with stakeholder expectations and overall strategic goals of the client. We work with you on designing and executing this initiative that runs across the project organisation structure vertically and horizontally.

Lessons Learned Capture

We understand that capturing lessons learned and conducting regular reviews, both during and at the conclusion of an initiative is a vital practice on major projects. It contributes to improved project performance, by creating a cycle of continuous improvement, allowing project teams to build on their experiences and adapt to changing circumstances.

End of Project Reviews

End of project reviews build a knowledge repository that can be shared with the other project participants, internal team members, stakeholders, and future project teams. This knowledge capture and transfer ensures that valuable insights and best practices are passed on to others. Our approach is unique when seeking a comprehensive deep dive, in its wholistic nature, execution and results it generates. Meaningful measures are identified that can be practically implemented on future initiatives.

Value for Money Reports

For most projects, delivery authorities and government departments need to not only ensure value for money outcomes in the delivery of a project but also demonstrate how that was achieved. Princeps is able to undertake a comprehensive assessment and for Alliance projects produce these reports in compliance to recognised state/federal government guidelines.

Enhancing Governance & Leadership Effectiveness

We are called on regularly to work with project leadership teams (Boards, Committees, Executive and Management teams) in the delivery of highly complex infrastructure projects as an independent advisor to enhance the execution of their accountabilities, to build trust levels further and to ensure strategic clarity. This allows for either a reset of the participant relationships at organisational and individual levels and in how collectively they will grow a ‘one-team’ culture.

Governance and Dispute Resolution

Princeps Advisory is adept at steering projects through challenges. Our involvement helps projects stay on track, balancing diverse interests and navigating complexities with professionalism and tact.

Independent Governance

Providing independent oversight through participation in governance boards (leadership teams), including as Chair where required is a key service we provide. This can be during tender and/or project delivery phases. Our involvement enhances the purpose, focus, operation and effectiveness of decision making of these governance boards and leadership teams.

Dispute Resolution

Resolving commercial (and other) disputes can be a lengthy and costly process, and can result in relationships breaking down between project participants if left to play out in a predictable manner. We support you by maintaining a focus on achieving ‘best for project’ outcomes, in facilitating the implementation of initiatives that unlock an aligned way forward.
